This lovely blue fabric is inspired by Kashubian folk embroidery.

Stretching for 62 miles southwest of Gdańsk, the Kashubia Region is a picturesque area in Poland known for its small traditional villages on the southern shores of the Baltic Sea. The territory of Kashubia was believed to have been settled by western Slavs some 1,500 years ago. It was part of a larger region called Pomerania, which historically was under German or Polish rule.

The Kashubians pride themselves most on their embroidery. Kashubian embroidery uses just five colours: green, red, yellow, black and three distinct shades of blue. Green symbolizes the forests, red the fire and blood shed in defence of the homeland, yellow the sun, black the earth and the three shades of blue representing the sky, the lakes and the sea.
